Journey with Gytha Lainey into the Old Forest

Gytha Lainey, a hunter of great skill, can be found in Bree-land at Adso’s Camp on the Great East Road between Bree and Buckland.

Gytha is waiting to speak with you about journeying into the Old Forest.

This is an instanced quest that you must do solo.

When you accept the quest from Gytha Lainey, you travel with her into the Old Forest to defeat Yellowfang. Yellowfang is a level 15 elite wolf, with 706 health.

When you enter the instance, Gytha is standing in front of you. She says Yellowfang is hidden somewhere in the Old Forest, and you must use cunning to locate the wolf. Use your tracking spell to get Yellowfang marked on mini-map.

Note: Tried this as level 17.

I tracked Yellowfang to get marker on mini-map. I moved toward her, and spotted 2 regular wolves. I waited for them to come close and killed them separately with single pulls. With those two wolves down, I moved in for Yellowfang. When Yellowfang was within view, I dropped a trap and shot her with Quick Shot to slow her approach and got 1 auto-shot off before she got trapped. While she was rooted in the trap, I hit her with Swift Bow to get 2 quick shots in. When she broke the trap, I used Low Cut to slow her again then used Cry of the Predator to fear her away. While she was running away I used Barbed Arrow and Quick Shot. By this time fear wore off and she was coming back at me. I finished her off with the melee attacks. /cheer

After Yellowfang is downed, return to Gytha to exit the instance. You will reappear back at Adso's Camp where you have to talk to Gytha again to finish the quest and receive the quest rewards.
