Druid was super weak when I last played, I think. At least, it seemed fairly established as the weakest deck when I was playing. Whether or not that was fair is another story.
I've been playing as Mage. I enjoyed it enough to buy a couple packs of cards so I could DE them and build a more competitive deck. I think I spent $10, and I'm having a bunch of fun. I think I'm going to save some gold and try Arena a bit more.

The controller support and implementation of a directional dodge makes it play and feel a bit different than on PC. Plus it has couch co-op. Plus I just have to grind 2M more gold to get 100% it on PS3. Well, I have to finish buying all the stash upgrades, and buy one of every type of item from a vendor, but the 2M gold will take care of those, too.

I am going to pick up Dark Souls 2. I want it on PC, but I really don't want to wait, so PS3 it is.

Until the new patch, I didn't like the PC system.

It plays MUCH better on the PS3 than my experience with the old PC version. The control scheme works well for controllers, there is no AH, directional dodge is awesome, etc.

Now that the new patch is out on PC, that version is probably better. But the PS4 version will probably be the best of them; all the PC changes AND the controller support.

That said, I finished normal mode, and I have little desire to play more. If they bring the new patch to consoles, I probably will. Until then, nah.

Oh, and I killed Diablo and didn't get a single upgrade. That was fun.

I've had some friends playing Stick of Truth and recommending it to me, but I think I'll wait til a sale. Still have so many other games that I'm playing... lots of D3 (on PC... who the hell plays this kind of game on PS3?) and FFXIV (again, PC master race). I picked up Long Live the Queen a few weeks ago when it was on sale. Haven't gotten to really get into it yet but it came highly recommended by a friend and it does look hilarious.

Long Live the Queen sounded badass when I watched TotalBiscuit's review on it(and I rather enjoyed the other game from the same people, Magical Diary). In fact, if you haven't watched it, TotalBiscuit's review was pretty good, though it was even funnier watching the video where he and his lady bicker as he plays the game.

Ok, so I started watching that review... that game looks like utter horse ****. You know, aside from the awful music and painful UI.

Weird. This is through the Battle.Net client/launcher?

I got pretty lucky in Hearthstone. One of the packs I had bought had a legendary in it, and it was one of the ones they just changed, so I was able to disenchant it for the full crafting value, basically getting me a legendary of my choosing.

I'm waiting on my copy of Dark Souls 2 to get to me. I thought it was supposed to be delivered on the day it came out, but apparently I picked the wrong shipping option so I won't get it until Thursday, which means I won't be able to get into it until Sunday. Oh well.

Haven't touched Hearthstone but I got back into physical Magic: the Gathering after a 16-18 year (!) hiatus. Namely because my son got into it so we play one another and then hit the local Friday night tournament a couple times a month. Figure an hour or so a night of having a 15 year old interested in spending time with his father has to be worth the cost of cards.

You think so now but soon enough you'll be buying a booster box or two of every new set that's released so you can keep up with the latest T2 decks and stay competitive.

Nah. Worst case scenario, I just start playing draft tournaments. Those are fun anyway.

Start playing craprare draft, basically just draft tournaments but instead of boosters everybody divides 45 of their own crap rares ($3 or less) into "boosters". It has the pleasant side effect of not getting people to draw the valuable cards just because they want those cards and you get the stupidest, wackiest and most hilarious decks. Plus since all it costs is whatever you set as a prize they're cheap to hold as well so usually people are up for it.

And as a bonus everyone gets to play with those cards that sort if have value but still end up gathering dust since they're basically unplayable.

Well, the local shop hosts the tournaments so I'd assume they're more interested in selling sealed boosters Smiley: wink2

It's a good deal though -- $15 for three boosters and you almost always get at least another booster at the end. Cheaper than buying them retail at that point. Even if you didn't, you're getting ~$13 in boosters (inc tax) and paying ~$2 for five hours of playing. Allowing, of course, for the whole drafting process in what cards you go home with.

You can just organize impromptu tournament yourself if there's enough people in the shop. Although draft tournaments at my shop when I still used to play almost always had one of a few kids who just participated to pick out any valuable cards rather than actually build a deck, it kind of soured the mood.

I haven't seen that but then I don't worry too much about card value anyway. I don't trade except some commons with my kid to fill some 4-in-a-deck ideas and I'm fine with my cards being game pieces rather than commodities. If someone wants to gimp his draft deck by taking value over playability, it's just more booster prizes for me at the end of the night.

Edit: I fully recognize that they can have value. I used to play Revised/Legends up into Ice Age so I'm well versed in trading/selling/ind. card sales, etc.. I'm just not interested in that meta-game aspect of it any longer.

I got really skeptical about the tournaments when drama started happening almost every time a reasonably valuable card was in one of the boosters. But even aside from that, craprare drafting was just loads of fun.

Unless the owner is waving it around in people's faces, I don't really see the issue. And if you open your assigned booster and want to take the most valuable card, why shouldn't you? That was your booster. Take whatever you want out of there. Anywho, I haven't seen any drama in the draft tournaments I played. Last time was just standard though. Didn't come close to winning -- I pretty much just grabbed a random deck out of my box that I knew would be legal. I broke into the upper 50 percentile so I had that much going for me.

I only brought up drafting as a relatively cheap way to enjoy a night out playing without investing an assload in cards. Frankly, I just do it for the father-son experience and for time out of the house so I don't seriously care if I do poorly.

I got drunk one night and bought 1000 (crappy) bulk magic cards off ebay. I had played it a long while back but hadn't for awhile... anyway long story short, I've been playing it again too - though I haven't dared go out to play people who actually care about being awesome, just a friend of mine, we make decks out of my crummy cards and have a generally fun time.

I was pleasantly surprised when I went to the tournaments that there were guys my age. Most of them had the same story as me: played it in college, quit (usually around Ice Age, man that 'reboot' turned people off) and just got back into it recently. Still very much a male's game though -- there were two females the couple times I've been. One who is maybe 13ish and told me her boyfriend made her deck and the other an old white-haired lady complete with "World's Greatest Grandma" sweatshirt Smiley: laugh
