That trailer looked cool as always. Not sure how anyone can be convinced it has anything to do with dancer to the point where it is clearly dnc and not mnk. I mean anything is possible but feels a lot more like some are just seeing what they want to see.

I think the woman in red is a monk. Reason being, Yoshi mentioned that monk would be the "story class" in Stormblood, like Dragoon was in Heavensward. My theory is the woman in red is simply the Estinien of the Stormblood story.
I didnt know Monks danced around and wore/fought in Dresses.... that definitely dosnt look like "Badass, story Monk character attire"

Don't fall into the trap of RPG tropes. Just because someone isn't dressed the way you feel they should look, it doesn't mean they can't do whatever. Really just another form of the stereotype like mages need to be frail weaklings that can't use heavy equipment.
Otherwise, if you've ever actually partaken in martial arts training, there are things like katas that are essentially a routine of motions you go through for the sake of training. Or perhaps more simply, imagine Tai Chi where it often seems like someone is keeping relatively still despite focusing on various arm gestures and breathing techniques. Katas just tend to be a bit more, and yes, dance-like at times. Some schools even utilize them as means to advertise themselves, which include more flamboyant clothing over the practical/badass.

Now, if Square Enix can make the difference in use of Swords between Red Mage and Gladiator/Paladin - then why can they not make difference be made betweeen different hand to hand forms? Why must it be monk exclusive, especially when it seems that cloth is an additional weapon in this circumstance as seen by the rather edited cuts of her striking with it?

Well considering I study and am skilled in 3 martial arts. I'm well aware of that fact. I'm also aware of the fact that no one walks around dressed like they're expecting to get into a fight. That being said for example if a Monk was out of a date, at a dance or at prom with her boyfriend/date which shes obviously be wearing a dress during and for whatever reason a fight breaks out and or she has to defend herself, then that dress is what she'll have to fight in. That's common sense.
However I don't expect real world logic to always apply to video games, hence my earlier comment.
I do study a few forms of martial arts and quite honestly, all of that aside the BIG DIFFERENCE to remember:
People complain endlessly if you give genders separate outfits. Look at all of the AF gear that exists currently, while they clearly won't have an "open shirt" for females, they usually have the general same style with obvious alterations, e.g bandages covering boobs while still maintaining an open vest. However they never have VASTLY different gear designs and it's unlikely they'd have that much detail in "throwaway" glamour armor.
We also know all gear is designed on Hyur midlander male then adjusted to every other race and gender as stated back as far as Alpha 2 of ARR - so while the techniques are similar, a warrior in a cgi movie could fight hand to hand if he so felt inclined to. It's a CGI trailer, not actual gameplay. Remember as well, Yoshida said there will be no "branching" jobs ever again similiar to SMN/SCH, but it wouldn't be the first time Yoshida said something that 180'd lol.
So it could very well just be a special monk NPC since we're seeing her in 3.5 storyline, however we also got a "taste" of new jobs when they introduced new gameplay in the storyline and crystal tower (for example Yugiri) which also was to give us a preview of the new race - despite her being a miqote mannequin.
The style is very mid eastern, obviously, but typically for some kind of blade wielder or dancer - Not saying a monk can't have that attire, just some things are very very defined when taking martial arts because some attire can hinder your performance unless it's apart of the technique.
Since for whatever reason Yoshi is very against giving "spoilers" or just telling us, the teaser trailer obviously wouldn't give away much or it would defeat the infamous "please look forward to it" yes..there may be spoilers to 3.5, but spoilers are posted the second the game gets update even before the server comes up, so when they do come up all the info is on youtube or reddit anyway.

He might but I doubt it. After ROG/NIN he said they didn't want to do any more base classes. That told me he was basically donezo with the class system and any new additions going forward would just be straight jobs like the HW ones. While I suppose it's possible for a new job not attached to a class to use an existing class' weapon, it sounds needlessly complicated to do that.
So I went back and watched the trailer again. She's fighting unarmed with the same style as MNKlander. But in the Stormblood logo she's got something attached to her arms that look like blades of some kind (it's hard to make out but there's clearly something there). Her outfit and her precombat dancing make me think Dancer, her fighting style makes me think Monk. Obviously there's no way to know for certain until we have more information than this to go on but there's support for both possibilities.

I am trying really hard to find where you are pulling these numbers from, I have gone through almost every report listed on this page. Can you please give more insight into where to go or post the numbers being discussed so we can see it for ourselves? Thank you.
It was originally listed on the Japanese page around the 13th/14th, which looking at the differences between these sites it seems they don't list every report on the English site.

I too would appreciate a direct link to the report. I was having similar discussions with someone on the official FFXIV forums who was saying the budget was triple than Heavensward but just directed to this site and said it was on the Japanese version of the site. However I have gone through the Japanese version of the site and found nothing to indicate a budget for Stormblood.

Well, I guess I should clear up what I mentioned in a previous post about the female in red "deemed" as a DNC class is mere speculation and wishful thinking. However, one should remember that FF is always reinventing their themes and lore within each new created world. I'm not saying Lady in Red is definitely a DNC but I wouldn't put it past Yoshi-P to give it a new style and look.
I'm not sure if many are referencing back to FFXI as the only DNC class they are familiar with, but they've been around since FFV where they brandished daggers and were skilled in unarmed combat. FF Tactics DNC's weapon of choice were cloths. Shoot, Mog from FFVI was a Dancer and Geomancer combo. You get where I'm going with this. I'm just letting the imagination run wild and using what I see as possible sneak peek into this new expansion. For instance, in the trailer, Lady in Red swung a cloth out towards the WoL, and the Amano logo art for Stormblood has her holding an unsheathed dagger in the air. I simply assumed that a DNC could still possibly exist.
In the end though, it could simply just be a female MNK wearing her own NPC specific attire eliminating my theory. Still crossing my fingers that it could be Yda, but I'll wait to see what the next patch has in store.

So pending what the actual battle system changes are, RDM is a "hybrid" class. It's classified as Ranged, so it's place in the battle system is ranged caster (so has caster LB) and while in melee range it uses the rapier and while ranged it uses white/black magic. So it's essentially playing how some people played gladiator in early 1.0 days lol.
SO unless they do actually make significant changes to the system, for now, think of being a blackmage that can swing a sword using a gap closer skill like spineshatter diver or Shukuchi.
And more importantly, Omega (8man raid) and "Return to Ivalice" (24 man raid) will have guest designers, so hopefully the designs will finally go back to coil level of interesting.

Details are too scarce to be sure of how RDM will work, since these "battle system changes" are still unclear.
Also, I think I may the only person who didn't want the involvement of Matsuno in the new alliance content. Aside the big PR push (which I think it's the reason they called him back) I just don't think he has done a good job since Final Fantasy Tactics (yes, I excluded Vagrant Story because its story is a mess).

I'm content simply because it's new people. I'd prefer if they let more XI team develop some content since the concepts are always really good but being confined to a core structure developed back in the late 90s only so much they can do with it, so having a more streamlined and modernized set of tools they could do a hell of a lot.
As the alliance content tend to be what gets spammed the most every update I can KIND of see the choice of him being chosen.
