Still no win over Thordan Ex... my weekly static took another run at him on Thursday, and we didn't have a good system for dealing with the Phase 7 charge mechanic. Afterward, we did some research and found a system that looks pretty simple, so NEXT WEEK hopefully the king goes down.

But I finally started collecting scrips on my miner, and I just got my i180 pick axe, so that's something. Also got a few pieces of i240 gear with tier V materia melds. Every bit of DPS for Thordan Ex (and beyond) is welcome, especially since not all the DPS in my static have time to have max iLevels.

I resubscribed! I suppose that's a feat of Valor. Just in time for the new patch too.

Deep Dungeons! I'm very excited about that.

Also got my ninja to 60 and immediately jumped to i208. I'd been saving up Midas parts.

Trolling is an attempt to invoke some sort of inflammatory response. Just because you responded the way you did in nuking my post doesn't mean that was the intention. My prior post wasn't sarcastic and neither is this one. I'm actually happy for you.

Ultimately you made a decision, you committed to that decision and you achieved a goal. That's actually what the slowclap was for. You did something that you built up as being unreasonable and it seems you ended up feeling rewarded. Pretty much what people have said you needed to do all along. I'm not here to say I'm better than you because I was doing it with less time played. I was highlighting the fact that I was doing it with less motivation, but still getting it done.

I honestly hope you find it rewarding. For me it was just something to do because it was there to do so I ended up leaving shortly after HW. Nothing wrong with changing your mind. Perhaps if/when I post in the future you won't automatically view it from a predetermined perspective.

It still is unreasonable.

It took me months to find seven other people with schedules that worked just enough for us to meet one hour per week. It's kind of nonsensical for most of your end-game content to follow that model. I consider myself highly fortunate that I was able to find seven other like-minded and competent players who all have the patience to not bail because our progress takes so long.

Also, I'd said numerous times that I've been part of statics before. I'm not anti-static, and trust me -- my issue with anything in life is never motivation. My big complaint has always been that a static is required to make any kind of reliable and efficient progress in XIV's endgame scene. That hasn't changed. In fact, my static doesn't even want to touch savage-level content simply because we see no point in wasting so much time when we can only play for an hour/week.

That said, I'll attempt to unnuke your post since you were gracious enough to clarify your stance. I thank you for that. But you're still misunderstand where I'm coming from, and as a result, even your attempt at extending an olive branch comes off as a bit condescending. I get it, though, and appreciate your good thoughts.

Final Padjali weapon done for all jobs I actually play (5). Due to it being "green" it actually doesn't matter much it's still essentially a "blue" item.

Edit: reupped

Link doesn't work.

You got five weapons already? I can't imagine having the patience (or play time) to do that, let alone in under a week.

Yeah posted it from phone so mighta miscopied the link lol. It doesn't take that long honestly, first 2 were good RNG runs the last 3 were terrible, I only did 1 weapon for my alt character (which is the last one I got.)

With the new update to it, it's actually easier than before but still pretty terrible. Bad RNG = 30 full runs is a guaranteed weapon compared to before.

My 5 free days of playtime end tomorrow at about noon so I thought I'd take a moment to sum up what I did during that time. I won't be resubscribing right now with Legion so close... have to be ready to raid with my guild on time so playing 2 MMOs isn't really an option for a while. And there's an FFXI event coming up later this month I want to do that prevents me from just resubbing to XIV for a single month. So here it is... 5 days of stuffs:

Started and completed the story for 3.2, 3.3, and 3.35. I'm now up to date on the storyline. This required gaining about 10 item levels and changing mains (I'm a BLM now... pewpew) but I'm all caught up on the main scenario.

As part of that I completed the following instances for the first time:
Antitower, Lost City HM, Sohr Kai, Hullbreaker HM, Final Steps of Faith

Also did several runs of Void Ark for farthings to push my item level. Didn't manage to get any useful gear drops from it, but the farthings managed to shove my esoterics gear over the necessary item level requirements.

Did a first run of Weeping City of Mhach... died a lot... some of it was my fault... some of it wasn't. Fights weren't super complicated even as a blind run, but the healers seemed to be sleeping through half the fights and I didn't have a huge HP cushion like the rest of my party (I just barely squeaked into the item level requirement).

Started but did not progress in the anima weapon questline. The retainer holding my existing zeta weapon wasn't available because he's one of the ones that requires paying an extra sub fee for... so not available for the free game time. Didn't really feel like spending my time doing this anyway. Later perhaps.

Managed to do a complete run of Palace of the Dead as AST. The party comps make me wonder how often the game puts together parties of 4 dps. Me being a healer saved the run several times... especially since apparently nobody's ever heard that splitting the party is bad. Doesn't anyone play D&D anymore? Ended with 20/17 on aetherpool gear.

In doing that I also dinged 60 on AST. So now I have something I can spend esoterics on again.

Did the seasonal event just enough to get the power ranger poses because... yes.

Fed my chocobo his last Thavnarian Onion (used the Ishgard quest to get the last one... take that, market board!).

Dinged 60 ARM. Only crafting/gathering classes left are BSM and FSH which are both at 57ish.

Gave one of my retainers a job. Why? I actually don't know. Why did I do that? What does that gain me? Eh... who cares, had plenty of ventures... why not.

Capped lore tomestones. Almost unavoidable with all the dungeons I had to run. Did expert roulettes like.. 3 times over these 5 days? Mostly for the gear drops to be honest. The tomestones aren't super important to me at the moment. Especially since even with bad rng, getting an aetherpool weapon is significantly easier than getting a lore weapon.

Anyway... that was my 5 days of the free login campaign. I think I accomplished a lot during that time. It certainly LOOKS like a lot of things... there's all sorts of words up there describing things I did.

My static, able to meet two weeks in a row, finally beat Sophia Ex last night!

We were all pretty stoked... Our total learning time was about five hours. We got her down to 2 percent four hours in, but died at the enrage timer. This is only our second primal down (we beat Thordan Ex a few months back), but this was our first win without echo!

To compensate for our often-erratic schedules, we actually LENGTHENED our weekly meetups by an hour so that if folks can't show up, we'll have more time to fill out with the Raid Finder without wasting our limited time. Fortunately, everyone was able to make it for the past two weeks, so we were all able to learn at the same pace and maximize our efficiency.

Heh, I feel like the first rule of scheduling anything on the internet should be to make the time at least a half hour earlier than when you intend to start. Way too many XI events where start time was supposed to be 8pm, only we started 30-60m later because of latecomers, job juggling, etc..

Finally finished my umbrite step tonight. Just under the wire before the probable nerfs on Tuesday.

Weapon still isn't an upgrade over my kinna rod, but in a couple weeks when I finish with the singing clusters it finally will be.

Smiley: boozing Here's to you, umbrites! Burn in hell!

Managed two things this weekend, got Fisher to 60 (my last job to 60 just in time for Stormblood) and also did Palace of the Dead through floor 50 for the first time.

As a side note, I tanked Zurvan EX again, and got some clears for friends that weren't on when we initially cleared it. I think the secret is that I tank better than I heal.

Not related to FFXIV, but I finally finished FFXI. It was a great journey!

Now I'm working while listening to the FFXIV live letter. Super stoked to be a rdm!

Grats on your Zurvan tanking... my static is going to take another stab at that after we down Nidhogg. We had to take a two week break, so hopefully next week we finally cross that off our list.

Hmm, not much on the FFXIV for me. I finished the Umbrite step for the relic spear, but that's as far as I'm going. I refuse to farm light again. That crap is so painfully tedious that I'm just never going to finish it. I'd like to thank SE for making the grind so bad that I simply will not continue to participate in it. Anyway, rant aside, I wrapped up the Heavensward story quests and am currently taking the month off. I've got a number of games I need to get around to playing, this seems like a good time for it. I finished Horizon Zero Dawn last weekend. Great game, anyone with a PS4 should play it. Now I'm rotating between BF1, which I might be getting better at, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, which I know I'm getting worse at, and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

I'm about to finish Fallout IV, then I'll jump on either Shadows of Mordor or Witcher 3. I also have Final Fantasy XV waiting to be removed from its plastic.

My static finally beat Nidhogg Ex! And we won without echo, which made it even better.

We never got through Sephy Ex or Zurvan Ex, but now that we've got our group intact I'm sure we'll clear all the 4.x primals. Fun night, though! Good way to cap off my HW experience.
