For a new player I actually recommend not trying to power level. You're going to have to do the story to progress (it's not optional), so you may as well do it and let it lead you through the leveling process rather than having to go back and do it afterward and not get rewarded for it.

You won't get kicked from dungeons just for being new. At low levels people tend to be pretty understanding, and most of the ones I've seen will help new players learn how to play their class/job. At max level they get less forgiving, but seriously by that point you've had 60 levels to figure it out.

"Easiest" is going to mean something different for you than it does for me, so I can't really answer that question. My recommendation is to try a variety of classes and see what appeals to you. You might also look up some gameplay videos of the jobs being played at high levels to see if anything grabs your interest specifically. Don't worry about complex rotations right now, plenty of time for that. Just look for a job that appeals to you and seems like it would be fun to play. Every job is viable at all levels of play so there's no wrong answer here.. just pick the one you enjoy (or the one that looks the coolest and makes you want to learn it).

EDIT:

If it helps at all, here's a quick table of what each job's role is so you can look things up more easily.

Tank (job is to get punched in the face and not die): Marauder/Warrior, Gladiator/Paladin, Dark Knight
Healer (job is to make health bars go up): Conjurer/White Mage, Arcanist/Scholar, Astrologian
Melee DPS (stabby stabby): Pugilist/Monk, Rogue/Ninja, Lancer/Dragoon
Ranged DPS (pew pew): Thaumaturge/Black Mage, Archer/Bard, Arcanist/Summoner, Machinist

Dark Knight, Astrologian, and Machinist are not available until you reach the Heavensward story, they're just included here for completeness' sake. Arcanist is listed twice because it actually becomes two different jobs.

I second taking your time.

Pick a role rather than a class. Classes and jobs that share roles generally tend to share traits and abilities. Picking a role also aligns you to which play style you prefer. It will depend on your play habits how much content there is for you at endgame, but the path is accelerated once you get there compared to other MMOs.

Do you like your dailies with your raids or raids sprinkled on your dailies with a healthy dose of hunting? Smiley: sly

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

Yeah, you really need to try different things.

If you're better with situational awareness, be a tank or healer. If you're better at managing rotations, be a DPS.

Many people would say being DPS is easier, but for me, tanking is way easier. You just have to play around and see what works.

If you can tank, then you'll never have to wait more than a few seconds for dungeon groups, which is nice.

Also, if you decide to go the DPS route make sure to read a guide on your job basics/rotation. I've seen so many DPSers do crippled damage because their rotations were a mess (Black Mages spamming Fire3/Blizzard3, etc)

If you know you are going to stay with a current role, the fastest way to get to 50 is a combination of the story line and doing your daily roulettes. Always use food, even if it's some cheap food that doesn't do anything for your roles stats, it's still a percentage bonus. For a second job, it's a mix of whatever missions are left over, FATEs, levequests, and dungeon grinding.
