It's cool, though I still hate seeing that SMN is so linked to Bahamut and Coil will remain optional in that whole aspect. It's like in FFVII they gave you Knights of the Round without needing a Golden Chocobo..just doesn't make sense lore wise D:
I am..SO...SO...happy they're hopefully moving onto new songs for mid boss and big boss lol. While I love Nobuo's work, After 1.x and 2 years of 2.x...it's time for something new..wish it was Mizuta though, the stuff for the FFXI mobile app is amazing so far.
Doesn't really spoil much unless you didn't do 2.1-2.55 storyline.
This is one of the major reasons why my FC is on hold for our major plotlines. This trailer alone teases some Lore Bombs that could literally backfire entire plot arcs.
While... I kinda agree with Hio on the whole Bahamut being optional thing, I'm going to hold and see how they explain it within Summoner quest line, if at all. From a shallow, giddy standpoint, I actually like the idea that Summoners get Bahamut's attack.
The small showcases of the Limit Breaks were pretty impressive from what I saw. I like them. Just a few more days till we can actually see these in detail.

It's unlikely to be explained. I mean unless they're planning to make "change your lb3 animation" a quest reward (which now that I say that, would be kinda cool), it'll probably just be "here's 3.0, your lb3 is now X."
Channeling Bahamut's power without having finished Coil is a LITTLE icky. Honestly though, if you're going to go that route with things, you'd want to reward all the jobs for completing T13 and not just SMN. I think in this case it's probably ok to just hand wave it away as not being super important. It's a cool visual, nothing more.

One thing will be sure - DPS are going to compete more on who's going to get to use the Limit Break level 3s when they are available.
From the looks of it though, it looks like they piled Bard and Machinist with the Magical DPS when it comes to limit break styles. That's going to disappoint my friend. We've saved a few runs by using the Bard Healer LB.

See, I only have issue with Summoner (and clearing T13 in itself is the reward, along with the OP gear and weapons which we know will last till at minimum 3.1) mostly because Bahamut is a story tied with the end of 1.x and all through 2.x you hear about dalamud, yes..but Bahamut is never a thing in the main storyline, like at all. You don't even so much as encounter him (nor Phoenix) despite their importance.
SMN in particular has to be in the presence of a defeated primal to absorb their aether or in a location where x primal's aether is gathered to control a fraction of it (must defeat the "unfinished form") however Bahamut's aether only exists in the binding coil..essentially Dalamud locations. There's only 1 spot in the overworld that would have a tiny trace of it in Coerthas (either side), otherwise..that's why I only really hate when they use lore as a reason to do something or not to do something..but as of now, this glaring plot hole is just staring you in the face lol.
You also have to remember the biggest changes to SMN rely on Bahamut Aether as a separate build up to your Aetherflow.

I have too, but it's really counter-intuitive for a dps class to bust out a healer limit break. That's always been pretty strange and it just confuses new players who don't understand why they've suddenly done something wrong.

A point of view I agree with. But logic has no place in a discussion of personal preference. My friend adapted the use of the healer LB as a Bard as his own and is disappointed that it was removed. I do hope the new animation pleases him though - cause I happen to like it.

Which is why I hope there will be some sort of quest line created to explain these changes. If not for the Limit Break at least for the change in mode for Bahamut stance. Then, at the very least the rules they set into motion with SMN will get clarification or revision as necessary.
The saving grace of the Summoner actions is that in the quest-line, researching Summoner is very much a renaissance, and one that is an evolving course of research. The rules they applied to Summoner could easily be proven false with further canon research, and that is how we managed to figure out Bahamut's Favor.
As far as lingering presence of Bahamut? Nah, we only need only be incorrect that all the remains of the Mercidians rested entirely with Dalamud. We already have another Allegan ruin that could be proven to hold more of them (as they hold the ancient Ixals) In which case perhaps a fragment of Bahamut could be obtained through them in some manner. Or perhaps a trip into an unsealed fragment of Dalamud which has an isolated fragment that was not removed in the quest-line. Plenty of loopholes that could be written in here. I just want to see them write it convincingly.
The big sticker for me here is the Limit Break. I'd love for them to have a quest-line explaining them in story per Job even if they retrofit it into the Job quest-lines, I'd be happy.
Be sweet if the warrior of darkness was your character but an anti-your character lol. Idk how the color scheme would work but would be interesting as devs to toy with. Kinda like scotty pilgrim and the dark version of himself in the movie. Loved that movie..
I like to pose a question to those who know more about coil and Summoner. Wouldn't in theory, as the warriors of light were teleported by being thrown into the aether and fragments of bahumet were going back to the aether be enough for them to tap his power?
I don't know it's just a question. Since I only have a reader digest video of coils understanding of the events.

Could be. It's more likely the SMN job quests will just take care of it.
You don't have to have beaten Garuda in the story to obtain the Garuda-egi pet. You fight her (or a piece of her) during the job quest and tap into her power that way. This isn't an egi presumably because Bahamut is simply too powerful to control that way. Bahamut ends up possessing you to a limited degree instead, though you still retain control. I expect the reason for this to be explained during the job quest that gets you Dreadwyrm Trance.
NB: I'm aware that the quest to obtain the Garuda-egi is a higher level than the story-mode Garuda fight. But the fight is not a pre-requisite for the quest.

I personally think its a Good vs Evil standard story. I prefer those, a simple you are the good guy and he is the bad guy.
Maybe it is my character or not but I hope we will get to see a "Leader" who is behind it all. We have seen a few bad guys and every time we see a "Leader" it turns out there is someone behind them pulling the strings. The classic Ganon vs Link style.
Have to say, though I think SE deserve a good job call out because as fans we are always quick to complain and moan yet we don't say often enough what good game they have produce. Especially if HW turns out as good as it looks.

That's a possibility, which is what I'm hoping the quest really explain because that's quite the change up from what even the level 50 story dialogue suggests, since warrior of light or not..the style they're going with the Dreadwyrm stance is definitely a huge change up.

Hmm...well, after you beat T13 it's kind of 50/50 given those events. Heck even after you enter T12/beat T12 it makes it apparent that you're "finishing the job" completely. The biggest problem: Coil is optional. So while yes, Bahamut razing the land wasn't an optional event, the main story shys away from anything and everything to do with him directly, so it would be tossing optional elements into the storyline and leaving people confused that didn't do Coil.
So it really could go either way, just hoping they explain it well because yeah, Summoners are definitely Warlocks in game design, but lore wise possessions seem to be more of a thing, it's just being possessed by something optional in the grand scheme of things is a weird decision. So while you don't have to fight full powered Ifrit, Titan and Garuda, they exist in the main storyline. Their points of aether exists in the overworld..Bahamut..? Not so much. Especially when you realize Bahamut doesn't even actually exist anymore (as he's very much dead lol) and the "Egi" you fight in T13 is basically the last of his presence.
Did they always used to show the CGI Warrior of Light like this in their videos? It seems since Heavensward has been announced he has been making a presence. I know it's supposed to be our characters or whatever, but it seems kind of out of place.

I thought about that too. This may be a bit off on a tangent, but I've really gotten tired of being called "Warrior of Light" (somewhat because I hate Melisandre) and being told I'm the savior of the planet. I think the reason it feels so stupid to me is because my main is a WHM. I've often considered playing warrior or paladin because it fits the storyline more in my opinion. I think SE chose the warrior dude because of similar reasoning due to the heroic nature of an axe wielding vagabond. I could be wrong though.
