I will say, Thayos, that you really dropped the ball earlier.

Your Poll should have been about how many negative threads Duo would create BEFORE Heavensard came out.

Side-note edit: I wouldn't have been tempted to post something snide like this, if I didn't see the 8 threads he has on the first page in spite of the fact that he's on my ignore list. Is there anyone still in coding that can add a filter for that? All they would have to do is put a footnote at the bottom of the page saying "# Threads hidden by filters <click to show>" and it would save a lot of people a lot of aggravation.

Yeah I see topics with my name on the front page totallintg number of 8... and of 8 4-6 of them are NOT complaint threads sooo ummm what are you trying to say?

Error 90000 means that your connection was terminated by the server (or anywhere along the route actually.. your client can't tell the difference). Error 90002 means your client did the termination for some reason.

It's impossible to "fix" getting disconnected unless it's happening due to a bug, and then you can fix the bug and see if the problem goes away.

We already know it's happening when it's not supposed to. Since it's an issue that nearly everyone has come across it's pretty well documented when it occurs, but what the players are doing when the receive the error varies. Sometimes you got it immediately on login, sometimes you got it changing zones and sometimes you got it while having a staring contest with a delivery moogle.

My point is that it's difficult to convince people that you've corrected an issue when it's clearly still an issue. The fact that they have said repeatedly that it's been resolved and still hasn't means they probably aren't even aware of exactly why it's happening.

I thought the 90k issues were mainly ISP issues. Or was that another error code?

I think the best thing about real early access (no gag orders or blocked content) is it lessens the impact of hackers or whoever wants to hurt the game at launch. 90002 hit my server hard a week ago, few people complained because we got back on fast. It felt like a warm up for launch day.

So for a long time I was getting 90002s constantly. Four or five times a day seemingly at random. That's what prompted me to finally do some research and find out what EXACTLY the error code meant. Also because SE's tech support was absolutely no help at all.

It turned out that my computer was doing it. My CPU's timing was just very slightly off and occasionally it would not keep track of the current time quite right. Well Windows has a built-in service that corrects this because it's a fairly common problem and not really that big a deal. Unfortunately the FFXIV client reads any tampering with the system's clock as an attempt at speed hacking (if you'll recall, this is more or less how speed hacking worked in FFXI that did everything based on the CPU clock speed). So when Windows was fixing my CPU's issue automatically, I'd get immediately disconnected for seemingly no reason.

I eventually had to replace my CPU (and motherboard... yay) to correct the problem. And ever since then it's been absolutely perfect.

This is what I'm saying though. This is never a problem that SE could have fixed. And error 90000 can be caused by issues just as varied and weird as this. Anywhere along the route between you and the servers in Montreal. Something goes wrong and you drop just the right number of packets? Boom, gone. SE is incapable of "fixing" how the Internet works.

My suggestion, if this is a problem you're having regularly, is to document it. Time, date, what you were doing exactly. Gather data that you can take to SE and/or your ISP and say "look, my connection is getting dropped at 8:30pm every day and here's my data. WTF?" And then that's something they can take action on.

But just saying "I'm getting disconnected occasionally, fix it" is not useful information.

It wasn't ISP issues. 90k line of errors are indeed termination of your connection. The only time we've had issues ISP specific were when verizon was basically rejecting XIV connections and Level3.net not being able to handle the traffic early on in 2.0s life.

Funnily enough, most XIV issues are simply design choices yoshi/SE made for it - Change your PC's region or clock settings and watch yourself get kicked from the game immediately. No other game does that (not even XI from what I seen), so the client is far more erroneous than your connection will be. So as much as people love to not being the factor in something going wrong (which is why some feel SE is perfect) there's far more hardware related issues PC wise than there are with the connection to the game. My brother's fiancee couldn't dodge any AoEs despite being out of it..so he got her a new Mobo and 8 core processor..all her problems went away, including continual disconnects until recently.

Which is why when it IS connection related, it's usually because of them not being ready for the flood of people trying to rush on.

But yes thanks for THINK you know me and my intentions... what that they say about those who assume?

You should have taken the extra time to communicate some of that in the OP. People aren't just making assumptions about your posts completely out of the blue. You have a track record. Much of the time, the "questions" you ask are just veiled complaints about the game.

I dont complain for the sake of complaining if Im gonna complain its about something CURRENT not somethings that old, over and done with and has already been overcome/fixed.... if i came here to complain about an old problem that no longer exists then I WOULD be 100% deserving of the title "troll"

All 4,663 of your posts are rehashed complaints.

It's just thick lines on the thread screen for me saying "User Ignored." I'm loathe to click them. It's complaints, complaints phrased as things not like complaints in order to bait complaints, or justifications of said complaints, complaints about people complaining about him complaining (full on complaintception) oh, and arguments.

If there was a day in which Duo was genuinely positive, it was likely sucked into the black hole of negativity (Also known as the Vortext of 'Whaaa!') he generates so that it no longer exists in memory.

If we really want to talk about something, how about we speculate on how long it's going to take with these new moves from monk and Dragoon before someone makes a fan video of DBZ references with all the Ki blast moves.

Oh, here's one if a Lalafell Monk gets knocked off a Titan fight, does it count as a Krillin pwn?

Even then people would find something to nitpick purely to spin it into an argument or to continually attack him or call him a troll simply because they've grown fond to belittle him.

So regardless of how he words things, it'll always be considered complaints even when he poses a simple question or statement - even when you can look on the OF and the people who defended SE and yoshi the most have started singing a more somber tone in regards to certain aspects about the game because once the kool-aid starts running out, you can start actually looking from both sides of the spectrum.

Ok lets not start saying things about me that actually make sense and show youre clearly the most adult/mature person on the forums while everyone else is still stuck in High School (either physically or mentally.. Ill go with the later... since Im sure 90% of this boards population is not only over 18 but over 21 as well). We wouldn't want you to get rated down for going against The Ashley's and actually telling the truth.

But anyway back on topic.. can saomeone link to where it was said that when HW comes out old dungeons will have level caps removed and you can go in with incomplete parties? because that sounds too good to be true (imagine soloing zodiac weapon farming without having to wait for DF queues)

Maybe it's just me but: If I'm intolerant of someone, I don't go into their topic, just to bash them. I can easily not bash or harass someone unless I'm feeling particularly aggressive that day. Normally, you avoid or don't bother people you're intolerant of, you don't harass them or that actually reflects more poorly on the one doing the harassment rather than the one who is honestly not even attacking or bothering someone. Despite the whole: "If you hate/upset/dislike blah blah the game just leave" mentality...practice what gets preached - if someone dislikes a person so much to the point they can't help themselves but to bash on them, stay out of the topic or ignore the user. And by Ignore I mean don't even hit that quote check box and reply to them, just don't even click the topic. Hio, save your breath, you're on ignore too.

I'm not interested in the victimization speeches. The reputations of the individuals here seen in the negative are well earned - and the actions being done against them, which do go overboard, often often reaping what they long sowed after incessant conflicts they've incited, encouraged, or did not pull out of. No wall of text denial is going to change the opinions of those who have witnessed things first hand for years. And change in the individuals demeanor are not going to be recognized quickly in the face of said reputations.

Duo made his bed and he gets to sleep in it. He makes the change and remains consistent in it, it'll get noticed over time. In the meanwhile, adding features that prevent provoking posts from being seen (as administration says it doesn't cross the line) is a feasible request.

Agreed. I can literally link to posts with ppl who have less than 10 posts who ask the same kinda question I do and get rated up into oblivion for it.

Exactly, If I see a thread started by someone I dont like or known trolls on ganefaqs for example I dont even click on the topic title to see the thread... I see the author of the thread and continue scrolling down and go on about my day. Good to know theres at least ONE other adult here who actually behaves like one (I like how Hyrist put YOU on ignore for telling the truth and saying things that make sense.... guess some people cant handle truth and logic.)

Nah, he probably put me on ignore after stating it's his mission to harass negative people. Like I said, even when you have a complaint, it's not "veiled", as in "hidden", when you make a statement about something you're literally talking about that, not secretly talking about anything else or goading people as he stated. The trolls who got banned were blatant about it and blatantly provoked people, but funnily enough, they didn't get nearly as attacked as people who don't actually troll.

Some people are positive, some are negative, then you have people like Hyrist who thrive on harassing people on an internet forum. He does it on the official forums too and ironically, he's agreed with me quite a few times there as the only time I post on those forums is with my main account and have only a handful of posts outside of the Japanese forums, so it just further proves it doesn't matter what you write, it's who writes it honestly. It's quite petty when you get down to it, but hey people grow up eventually.

I can live with people calling each other trolls or white knights... this is an Internet forum, and those are common terms that come with the territory.

But no more silly name calling. That means no implying that everyone else is being childish, or saying that everyone else is acting like a bunch of "Ashley's," which is both a sexist and homophobic thing to say in the year 2015.

Clean it up.

Well like they say if the show fits wear it. I cant think of a single adult who acts their age and not their shoe size, who'll go into a thread of someone they dont like just to say "shut up Duo" or insult or be lilttle them, an adult would either just flat out ignore them because the dont wanna "stoop to their level" or "be the bigger man and walk away" or tell them off in a way that quite distinguished and far worse (yet effective) then resulting to name calling, thats stuff that happens on an elementary school playground or in high school... you dont run into much of that an an actual adult environment (unless people have had too much to drink). Id know... unfortunately I have a few high school aged ppl at work and thats the kinda crap I have to deal with with them too, difference between them and you guys is. I can slap the **** out of them, I cant do that to you guys.

They just like you may not like me but they quickly learn to stay away from me, leave me alone/ignore me/act like I don't exist REAL fast. Also do you know who the Ashley's are? I can probably understand how that MIGHT be sexist but how is it homophobic? By Ashley's Im talking about ppl in a clique/clique mentality, like the Mean Girls, where everyone whos not in their clique/part of the "cool kids" crowd gets treated like **** regardless to what they do or say, positive or negative, whereas the ones IN the cool kids club can do or say whatever they want and no one cares or does anything about it. Just like here, where someone can come into my thread just to say "Shut up Duo" and doesnt even get rated down or in some cases might get rated up, whereas I can just ask a simple question and get defaulted for it. For no other reason other than because of who I am. On what civilized planet do those actions sound alright? Sounds rather cliquish to me.. hence the Ashley's comment, so againt tell me how that sounds sexist or homophobic? Never seen Recess?

Muting you for a few days, Duo.

Not going to waste my time stating the obvious. Think about all of this, and when I lift your mute, feel free to post again if you can do so in a respectful manner.

I am serious about the name calling and repeated disrespecting of other people. Other trolls have been banned for getting combatative and insubordinate re: forum discipline. You don't need to go down that same path.
