Countdown two weeks until early access for Heavensward. Finally PS4 allowed me to preorder, so I bought the digital CE and am ready to roll. What is everyone doing last minute to prepare?

My goals:

Been farming coil a lot, to gear up all the alt classes to make their trip to 60 all that much easier. Going to be a good opportunity to re-learn the jobs I set to the wayside. Stockpiling tomes to use on machinist once it hits 50. Other than that, not much going on.

1. Continue to work to cap poetics, I'll keep 1300 in the bank for machinist weapon, purchase off the last 700 for the next two weeks, but the goal right now is to have 2000 soldiery and poetics by heavensward. Think I'm at 1250 poetics and 2k soldiery at the moment, so I'm on target to meet this goal.

2. Keep farming the coil... Got blm and tank ring from T10, so I'm done there, got caster belt last night from T11, so with the exception of bard ring from t12, the only things I could really use at the moment sit in t13.

3. I'll try to pvp with the white mage if I get a chance. That is really fun.

1. MNK is currently 41. Gonna get that to 50 as soon as I can.
2. I'm 5 alex away from finishing that state of my relic axe. There no way I'll finish to zeta before the expansion drops, but I'd like to get all the way through the light stages if I can. In the meantime, today is probably my last full day of playing anything other than warrior or monk until expansion time.

I had wanted to finish upgrading my gatherer's sets prior to the expansion, but since I've loaned out a considerable part of my fortune and I'm maxing out Determination on my axe, that isn't going to happen.

It has been up in the PS4 store since the beginning of the week. Originally there was an issue where the PS4 didn't recognize that you had FFXIV:ARR if you participated in the free PS3 -> PS4 upgrade campaign, but that was fixed in a day. So all is well.

Also, if you preorder on PS4, you don't need a special code. Preordering on PS4 and paying for either the regular or collectors ed. automatically allows you early access on Friday June 19th at 3am mountain (Denver) time.

I use mountain time because that's my time zone, I'm tired of people using New York or California time for all announcements, and I want everyone to have to do the math like me.

And the game officially releases on June 23.

I suppose I mostly need Poetics and more WoD farm for 120 catch-up gear.

What's the go-to way to farm Poetics?

I'm in the home stretch for getting Eric through the main storyline. Between this and getting him my summoner gear is the end of my realistic goals for Heavensward. Working on my relic got put on pause when I heard I could go into those dungeons lowman/solo without level/ilvl cap later on. So... I'd rather do that.

Meanwhile, important 2.55 events begin tonight on the RP event side. We get to explain where Dark Embers was on the Battle of Steps of Faith. (Hint: It's not at the bridge!)

Beat T11 last night! Not sure if I will knock off T13 by the expansion, but I am going to try.

Daily Expert Roulette. Then run Keeper of the Lake/Amdapor Keep Hard Mode for 40 poetics each. Snowcloak/Sastasha HM/Temple of Qarn HM work too for 30 poetics each.

Cleared T11 last night! Woo! Smiley: chug

There really is something to be said for saying out loud "last run of the night." I don't know why, but it makes people play better.

Hopefully I can get T12 down tonight.

WAR is 40 now... on track if I can gain a level a day between now and HW.

Because of the level cap raise and new gear, won't the current high-tier, expensive crafted/melded gear become obsolete?

After two straight weeks of playing The Witcher 3, I decided I should at least log in to FFXIV since I'm paying for it and all. I spent the time grinding out the last nine levels on Alchemist. It's the only craft I had left, and I wanted to get it done before the expansion drops. Then I spent the time turning in the quest items to get the level 50 alembic, which I probably won't ever use, but at least it's done. I'd like to finish my Lucis fishing pole before expansion, but I don't see it happening.

Me and a FC friend are discussing this. We fully expect that you're going to need properly melded crafting / gathering gear in order to create the items needed for the next tier of crafting /gathering quested items. Also, someone needs to be the first to make the next tier of crafted items, and the ones who do are going to end up very very rich.

Eric is through the ARR storyline! I'm more or less content at this point to rest on my laurels and tidy things up for Heavensward. Clean up my inventory and retainer spaces, store stuff I should put in my Armoire where it goes, and just generally help people out while I'm in game. Otherwise, I don't mind taking a break from the game overall so I don't burn out before I get into the expansion.

Grats guys! I love tanking T11. Easiest thing in the world. And T12 is extremely easy as long as you aren't a tank, healer, or bard. Tanks in the 4th phase on T12 have a very complicated, but incredibly fun role. MT grabs phoenix, random dps with brand runs over him immediately and passes it to the MT. Meanwhile, OT stands 4 ticks in fountain, then runs to MT. By the time he gets there, flames is being cast and OT stands on the MT to pass brand, while provoking and taking hate at the same time. Previous MT now waits for fountain, and when it pops, stands 4 ticks, runs to take brand when flames is cast, takes hate, and rinse / repeat. Its a nice little dance routine when you get the hang of it. But light years harder than tanking T11. In 11, at least we get to play merry go round in the add phase, but it is vanilla routine otherwise.

1-3. Capped Saturday morning... mostly farming T10-T12. Still haven't found a good T13 group like when I picked up the clear. The T13 farm groups elude me and don't ever seem to be on when I am on. I did get some good T13 experience on warrior though, got to add phase as OT, and beat T12 for the first time on warrior as well. Had a good time with that. I'm now at 1500 poetics. I'll have to buy a ring or something because I will cap next week. I have a lot of encrypted tomestones now (8) and carboncoats (7) but I still only have 4 twines. But, I've been getting a decent supply of coil gear so my ilvls have been going up decently on my alts lately without having to spend poetics, but its really all I have left to do until the expansion drops.

Looking into the FC alliance feature that will be up in 3.0. The founding members of our FC had quit the game, then came back, joined us, and then decided to branch off to start their own FC over the weekend, which will be more focused on exclusivity and hardcore raid content. Our existing FC is mainly casual, so we find that the hardcore group tends to catch up and pass us by fairly quick, and move on to more challenging content. I'm in between, I like hanging in my casual stress and pressure free FC environment while guest starring in other FC's hardcore raid groups. Best of both worlds imo. So for now, linkshells and alliances are the way to go for keeping up with my old friends in the future. I like that this game gives you many options to keep connected with your friends regardless of their progression.

Yea I order it so we are in at least for the expansion.
Should we have got a code to register so SE knows we got collectors addition?
It is weird. Always had to register with SE with expansions.
Anyone know if progress will rest after early entry and the game launches?

Any way we did play the game some this weekend.
Tes got her Lucis for Botany and we did all her recipe for her lucis for alchemy, she does needs a few more moon stones.
I collected everything I needed for for Lucis for Armorer.. Just ended to do the recipe now.
We finished all our last few pieces forgers clothing and most melds.
Actually did allot this weekend.

I am counting on this..
That is why we have been working on being fully melded and getting all the Lucis for gathering and crafting.
I am guessing the lucis wont be necessary but will make it allot easier.
There is supposed to be tome like gear for crafting coming up though that is lower than crafting gear. With new tier materia I am sure the crafting gear is going to be outrageous.

Nope, that is supposed to be handled for us already. PSN knows we purchased the CE as opposed to the regular version, and I suppose that gets transferred over to SE through this quite streamlines process they have set up.

Nope, this isn't a beta test, your progress will carry over into the release.

Just got back after a nice little hiatus post Zeta completion. Time to finally take Armorer and Leathercraft to 50 to cap off all my crafting classes. Wouldn't mind adding a bit more gear to my WAR before the expansion hits too.

Done, now Steps of Faith. Looks relatively doable after nerf. Won't get to try the original. I definitely need to stay up on the story quests from now on. Can't get this far behind again.
