Paid 299.99 for that 460 when it came out and it's still trucking along. It's probably the best aging video card I've ever had.

EDIT: Didn't pay attention to the benchmark at all when it was running due to having seen it before but near the end I happened to look over from what I was reading and noticed the Egi Ifrit -- they put a Summoner in the party for this benchmark.

Still waiting for the PC that I ordered to arrive. My only concern is how this will run with Windows 8. I haven't heard many good things about this version of Windows.

Don't worry about Win 8. There's a learning curve to deal with, but once you know how it works, it plays well.

Also, It seems like I am getting higher scores with this benchmark than the previous one. They must have really streamlined the graphics engine :D

It was nerfed down quite a bit. Not sure how the final release version will work, but this benchmark makes use of FXAA and not the more common(and taxing) MSAA or CSAA. Better performance at the cost of smoother edges, but a better bet for most people who don't have current gen GPUs at their disposal. In 1.0 I couldn't approach framerates like these without dedicating my second GPU to AA onry.

SuikodenXXX wrote:

That kinda defeats the purpose. The point of the benchmark is to measure system performance based on presets. If everyone had the settings tweaked based on their own hardware, you'd end up with a bunch of scores that aren't worth comparing.

"I have that same GPU but my scores are lower. Their CPU is better so if I upgrade my CPU, I can probably get 'Extremely High' performance". You wouldn't be able to make a statement like this unless there was a constant in the benchmarking to compare against Smiley: smile

Before I updated my AMD catalyst, I had AMD 13.5, score of 3625 on High/Full/1080p. After Updating to AMD 13.8, I had problems getting pass the second cutscene due to Shutdowns in Fullscreen. Tried it again in High/Borderless/1080p and got 3910. Not bad. After many attempts, I decided to up my GPU Fan Speeds to 82%(card1) 75%(card2) and it ran all the way Maximum/Full/1080p for a whopping 5085! XD

Register for open beta and try them both and you can get a better idea for free. Just guessing, probably pretty close to the same performance.

I've been in since alpha on PC, but no ps3 love yet. Do I definitely get to try ps3 for p4 or is it still a special ps3 beta code requirement?

I believe the registration for PC and PS3 are different so you'd have to register, unless it's too late.

i'm choosing between a 7950 and a 760 GTX super clocked soon. Since the 760 gtx price point shook the sub 300 dollar video card market i'm 90% on picking it. Here's my FF14 1.0 system just running out of multiple 3year warranties.
