LOTRO is now officially... free to play.
'Git a move on, everyone! It's time to explore Middle Earth... for free!
It's finally happened! Lord of the Rings Online has followed in the massively successful shoes of Turbine's other flagship MMORPG, Dungeons & Dragons Online, and now players can play one of the most popular MMORPGs on the market... for free! In addition to this free to play shift, LOTRO players will also be happy with Turbine's latest update, Volume III, Book 2: The Ride of the Grey Company, which allows adventurers to explore the ancient history of the Grey Company and the Rangers. As well, the harvest festival is making its grand return to LOTRO, in addition to new wardrobe system, a new storage for cosmetic items, an updated character creation system, a revamped new player experience (check out that opening scene for humans!), and a new scaling system for classic instances.
So much content... all for free! We'll see you on what will probably be a much more crowded Middle Earth!
