Hello,

I have played EQ Live for a very long time and like to solo due to RL time constraints. DAoC has always lookied like a decent ganme to try. I know very little about the game but want to try it out.

What is the best solo class?

(I know opinions will vary, but am looking for top contenders)

What style of solo class is it?

e.g. root and nuke, snare and direct damage or damage over time, fear and dd or DoT, pet class, etc.

I understand the game may have a completely different style so just give me the best equivalent or something new.

Thanks for the info everyone, and see you in the game soon.

skilththeskald has good intentions, but, he has been misled.if you need the truth you can seek it out as an albion. Take the path of a minstrel. you will succeed throughout PvE and RvR. for evidence in January you can watch himself and I /duel it up Smiley: king -Really.... if you wanted to go hibs i would say try a vamp animist or bainshee. they all seem pretty fun. for mids i would say Bone dancer, warlock. and on albion for RvR most people tend to think Minstrels and Sorc's tend to pwn but i really like my fire wizard no matter what the forums say i one shot lurikeens and frostalfs all the time.

Minstrel- has 2 instant damages -make me feel like a hiblet but i love them.
has 1 instant 9 second stun -awesome
AoE mezzzzzz
single line mezzzzz
melee - go slash if you do this instead of thrust
Stealth-climb walls-always a bonus
Best speed, power, health -songs- and many other enjoyables such as chariming high level pets

Sorc- Bolt range aoe mezzzz
Life tap
speed
power buff "crack"
pets and more

Vamps- just kick *** in melee. they can buff themselves all around decent

Bainshee- dont try to solo here. but they defintely put out some damage.

Animist- not a soloer neither but great for defending towers/keeps and doing artifacts and such

Warlocks- guarenteed one kill. i dont understand mythic, but yes... pretty much guarenteed one kill.

Bone dancers- have multiple pets and can take on more than one person at a time fairly easily i hate to run into bone dancers.

and my bread and butter. my fire wiz. Puts out 2 awesome range and damage fire bolts. has a good DD. has a root. not really best soloer but i do decent with another buddy. especially with my sorc/minstrel friend.

Ok, one thing first of all, Root and Nuke doesn't work in DAoC. dmg breaks all forms of croud controll except snare and stun. snare kiting can be tricky, and stuns last only 9-10 seconds at their highest efficiency.

now, as for soloing, there are several excelent choices.

in albion:

Necromancer - every action the necromancer does is through its pet. the necro itself is invulnerable while its pet is alive, but cannot directly affect anything. once the ept is killed, the necromancer dies incredibly fast. however, this is generally concidered the best solo farming class in the game, as well as PLer. necros can chain kill with almsot no downtime. not a good class for pvp.

Sorcerer - can charm enemies making them thier pets. combined with arguably the best croud controll spells in the game, the sorc can usually solo multiple even cons. they have a spell to increase their mana regen, as well as lifetaps, minimising their downtime. highly sought after for groups as well for both PvE and PvP. can be a bit tough to get the hang of, but very powerfull once mastered.

minstrel - stealth, speed, charms, CC. as mentioned before, the misnt can be an effective solo class. a jack of all trades, minstrels can uually adapt to any circumstance.

Theurgist - Theurgs, no matter hwo they spec, have access to fire and forget pets. they last about 30 seconds, but you can cast large numbers of them. you can overwhelm opponents a few levels higher than you solo, but this is very mana heavy and has signifigant downtime. not the best solo class, but it is possible with patience and theurgs are sought after in pvp for interupting opponent healers and casters.

Midgard

Bonedancer - a one man army, the bonedancer can controll up to 4 pets at once. the most common spec, supression, give them access to an instant cast lifetap spell with a 4 second cooldown, and healer pets to summon under their bone commander (consider this pet the general of your army. it is the oly one you directly controll. when it dies, so do its subordinant pets.) this combo makes bonedancers very difficult to kill in most situations.

Hibernia

Vampiir - this class is made for soloing. it comes with its own buffs, in the form of permanant stat boosts (but is unable to recieve additional buffs) its above average melee damage, high dmg DD spell, and Heal over Time make Vamps very difficult to kill. they have a uniqe power system, as their power is gained through their melee dmg and a special opening bolt spell.

Warden - my personal fav, as it is my class. Wardens are excelent soloers, as well as groupers. they have a spell which neutralizes one melee hit every 6 seconds at its highest rank. this is agroup chant, so all group members egt the benefit of this simultaniously. they have stat buffs, heals, and can specialize in a weapon too, making them very efficient. they are a defencive class, and suffer from low dmg output, but can outlast most melee opponents 1v1. benefits from post 50 expantion advancement more than soem other classes.

mentalist - their light spec is similar to the sorcerer, but not nearly as efficient. the charm is pulse bases and can break. but they have a decent dmg output in the light spec nuke. mana spec can solo effectivly with patience. its dmg output is DoT based, but they have an extremely powerful HoT and mana regen spells.

enchanter - a pet class that in its msot common spec recieves an extremely high dmg PBAoE nuke. with practice, enchanters are able to pull decent numbers of lower level mobs with their pet, let the pet gain enough agro through a high dmg focus dmg shield, and then go in for the kill witht he PBAoE finishing the group in 1-2 casts.

while other classes can be soloed extremely effectivly, these are some of th emore common choices for those who wish to remain their own company whenever possible.

hope this short list helps for chosing a solo class.

Just roll a warlock man. 2 button FOTM killeh. greatly overpowered and not very group friendly. If all I did was solo'd..I would make a warlock

Solo'ing pve would be necro or vamp. They can chain kill with no downtime.

If you're looking for best solo RvR class look for a nightshade. The best stealther class in the game imo.

yup for alb they have listed some good solo;ers the minst and necro but the best necro spec you need a buff bot for. the one toon I recomend in alb is the heretic I solo ojs and low reds all day long with a power font almost no down time. they are a combo class. they nuke with fire increasing over time spells they get weapon styles and can heal and buff. The best overall toon in the game for generall overall playability with so many options.

For midgard bone dancer is the only way to go for pure solo action.

For hibby. I to love the warden also the vamp. The banshee is good but becouse all of its damage is aarea of affect can be kinda tricky to solo with and it only gets paper armor.

But if played right I have successfully soloed all kinds of toons some just have longer down times ie pure tanks and others like pure casters die alot but are alot of fun at range.

I am personally shocked that no one has dared mention for an Eldritch to be a recommendation on Hibernia. I am level 50 void spec and often one shot yellows. They also come with a core line stun. And not to mention the not so rare one shotting in RvR. I have yet to meet someone who I can not kill before they get to me. [poll]

Some of the classes people have recommended are very complicated to play. If you are just starting out you may want to go for something simple at first to get the feel for things. A void eld on hib is pretty simple and levels fast. You might try that atleast till lvl 20 or so to get a feel for the game.
