Background

While travelling through the Chetwood, you were waylaid by brigands and taken captive. You now find yourself in a cell, searching for a means of escape.

Objectives

Objective 1

Speak to Amdir

You awake in a holding pen in a brigand camp. A strange man stands before you, beckoning to you.
Good, you are awake. The Blackwolds gave you quite a knock on the head, and I feared you would not awaken soon enough. There is little time to talk, but I will tell you what I may.

I am what som in Bree call a Ranger. I have come here to leanr what connexion these men have with a Black Rider I was tracking from the Shire. However, the situation has worsened. I learned from Jon Brackenbrook, a hunter in Archet, that a guard from his father's garrison -- Calder Cob by name -- is working for the Blackwolds and captured two visiting hobbits. Indeed, I have seen them here. I will need your help if I am to free the hobbits.

First, I must free you from this pen. When you are free, search the crate just outside the fence for a weapon. Speak with me again when you are armed. Quietly now! We must await the right moment....
Objective 2

Follow Amdir

The crate containing the Blackwolds' gear rests just outside the gate of the enclosure.

Amdir told you to gather weapons from among the brigands' gear, then speak with him again when you are armed.
Amdir says, "Quite! Someone is coming!"
Eogan says, "Wake up, you fool!"
Eogan says, "The Nazgul is coming for the Baggins Cob brought us."
Eogan says, "Before he arrives, we must dispose of *Name* and that hobbit girl."
Eogan says, "The others are dealing with the hobbit. You take care of *Name*."
Blackwold Lackey says, "Yes sir!"
Blackwold Lackey says, "Guess your time ran out *Name*."
Amdir says, "Now!"
Blackwold Lackey says, "Uhhh..."
Amdir says, "Here, search this crate for a weapon."
Objective 3

After arming yourself, speak to Amdir

Celandine Brandybuck is being held elsewhere in the brigand camp.

After you armed yourself, Amdir told you to rescue the hobbits, starting with Celandine, while he followed Éogan. You will need to dispatch any brigands you come upon while searching for the hobbits.

"I hope you found a weapon that you can use, for now our paths must part for a time. While yousee about freeing the hobbits, Celandine Brandybuck and Mundo Sackville Baggins, I will follow that Eogan fellow and see what I can learn of his plans with the Black Rider.

Free Celandine first, for Eogan's words tell me that she is in the greatest danger. It is Mundo they want alive. When you have both hobbits safe, seek me near the main gate. We will return the hobbits to Archet and expose Calder Cob's treachery to Jon's father.

Now, do you have everything you need before you go on? I would not recommend venturing forth without a weapon!"
Objective 4

Defeat Celandine's Captors (4)

Celandine is being held in a cage against the wall of the enclosure.

You have defeated Celandine's captors, but your task is not yet fulfilled. Celandine may be able to tell you where Mundo is being held.


Objective 5

Talk to Celandine Brandybuck

Mundo Sackville-Baggins is being held in the courtyard beyond the gate of Celandine's holding pen.

Celandine's distraction was a success. Only one brigand remains behind to guard Mundo. You should dispatch him quickly.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was hoping that hooded fellow -- you said his name was Amdir? -- I was hoping he was here to rescue me. When I didn't see him return, I feared these men caught him! But it seems he was only getting help!

My friend Mundo is nearby, I think. We must save him as well! These brigands have been saying terrible things!

We'll need a distraction...and I know just what to do!"

Celandine Brandybuck says, "Just need a little bit of flame..."
Celandine Brandybuck says, "and a place to put it..."
Celandine Brandybuck says, "that should get their attention!"
Objective 6

Defeat Mundo's Captor [Kill Edric]


Mundo is tied to a post in the courtyard.

Despite the defeat of his captor, Mundo Sackville-Baggins appears particularly displeased. You should encourage him to join you.

Objective 7

Talk to Mundo Sackville-Baggins

It's about time! Was I expected to... to rescue myself?

Come on, you big clodpole! Get me out of here before those ruffians return. They want to sell me off like a sack of potatoes."
Objective 8

Find Amdir


Amdir awaits you and the hobbits at the main gate.

You have freed both of the missing hobbits, but you have not yet escaped the camp.

Objective 9

Talk to Amdir

Amdir lay just beyond the main gate.

The Ranger Amdir was struck down by the Black Rider. You should tend to his wound.
You...found them. You rescued the hobbits.

Do not... concern yourself with me. The greatest danger... has passed. The Nazgul fear those who wield fire..."

Amdir says, "Ugh..." and faints.
Objective 10

Talk to Celandine Brandybuck


Celandine waits near the main gate.

Amdir is dying, and you do not have the skill to heal him. Celandine may know where he may receive help.
'Poor Amdir is hurt. We need to take him to Archet... it's not far! Someone there will know what to do!'
