I have to use the Everquest skin now. Like some kind of PEASANT.

I hope the use of all caps there adequately conveys my displeasure at thix turn of eventh.

Huh, well I'll be damned. I was sure it was the end this time. Oh well, might as well carry on then.

I used ffxiv.zam.com.

I've never even played the game, I just like the template.

Is it just me or is the Log In link now missing? I had to hit Reply to get taken to the "You must log in" screen because the link at the top of the forum was gone.

Is this a trick to get me to log out so I can't come back? That's mean, Joph. Mean.

Maybe if we cut bait on every forum that hasn't been used in the last 356+ days, this place would run better.

They also found some way to sneak ads in past the AdBlock plugin.

Tricksy hobbitses.

Well, when one of us turns on AdBlock, it probably cuts their site revenue by 16%.

The sad thing is that "more is less" in this case. I used this site for many years without any sort of ad blocking. I'm one of those strange people who is actually ok with seeing ads, knowing that they provide revenue to the site I'm visiting, and can accept that as the cost of using an otherwise "free" site. The problem is that at some point, the format and type of ads got so obnoxious that it made viewing the site itself extremely difficult, and sometimes it just wouldn't load at all. They started stuffing ads in the top banner, then the side banner. And they all involved moving graphics and loads to multiple other sites, some of which might trigger corporate blocks on our firewall (and possibly questions as to why I'm visiting some site that's on the black list or something).

I think the final straw was at one point here it basically broke the format of the site if I didn't use ad block. The ads took up so much screen real estate that the text I was trying to read was literally in a tiny box in the middle, surrounded by ads. So yeah, now I use adblocker. I still end up with blank sections of screen, but it's better than the alternative.

If they'd just keep the ads to a dull roar, they'd make more money.

I use a blockers partly to block ads and partly to fix all the broken sites I visit. And by broken I mean bad site design. And by bad site design I mean a few extra pixels of margin or padding than I would prefer.

I use ad blockers because I block pretty much everything. A lot of webpages probably don't like me much because none of their crap runs right, which is basically my goal. It's my work computer though, so I'm not taking chances.
