Interesting anonymous New York Times article.

Not sure if I want to view this as part of the continuing battle by the old guard of the Republican Party, but it makes Trump's concerns about loyalty among his staff members, and subsequent high turnover make more sense.

Rats on a ship, deep state, something, something. At least someone is trying keep the crazy old man away from the giant red button. Smiley: rolleyes

Well sure, but he only keeps the loyal ones. There's a disturbing lack of overlap on that Venn Diagram.

"Well sure but, you know, I wish you'd talk to this person because they for sure would have talked to me and I would have loved to take that meeting."

Wow. Typing that just made me totally think of Jerry Lundegaard from Fargo

I keep thinking of Emmett Fitz-Hume's press statement at the beginning of Spies Like Us.

Trump is prolly the best show this year. I have no idea how this season ends, but the finale looks promising. Mebbe Douglas Adams was onto something when he talked about Presidency. Shame we can't ask him.

Ooh, ooh!..and Pool of Radiance!

There are emulators online for both of those but the speed factor (slowed to zero even) make it unplayable (too fast).

They're regularly super cheap on GOG where they'd been tweaked to play on modern systems without DOSBox and speed settings.

Even on my ancient K-6 processor, everyone teleported around the screen unless you set the speed to 2%. I can't imagine what an i-7 8700k running at 5GHz does to it.

I think you finish building your team and, like, just win.Smiley: nod

The last time I tried was something like 2006 on a super crappy comp and it still ran too fast to play.

Forgotten Realms Collection

$10 gets you Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Hillsfar, Secret of the Silver Blades, Gateway to the Savage Frontier, Treasures of the Savage Frontier & Pools of Darkness plus Unlimited Adventures. Goes on sale in case $1.25 a game is too rich for ya.

I (re)played Azure Bonds back in January and it ran fine. You'll want to play it windowed, of course, since those graphics don't exactly lend themselves to 1080 display.

If you can't stop the voting on his SCotUS appointment... just make up a story so it's a #metoo issue!

Unless the story is legitimate. Then just ignore it in order to ram through a candidate along partisan lines before you risk losing your majority.

I have no idea if the story is legitimate or not. But then if we had a nominee who would get more than a bare majority, it wouldn't be an issue to find out either.

Meh. Feinstein has nothing to lose by pushing an anonymous, unspecific, allegation of an event from 40 years ago. She loses nothing if it's untrue, and she forces people to play the #metoo game where they are villains if they dare question an allegation. Now she gets to laugh as everyone questioning the legitimacy and timing of such an anonymous allegation are evil.

Using allegations as little more than political firepower is totally helpful to the issue as a whole. Smiley: rolleyes

Oh, and you don't have to copy/paste the same "I'm just asking questions" reply a third time. I'm good.

It's not a matter of "just asking questions". I don't know if the allegations are legitimate but the case was referred to the FBI. Under normal circumstances, we could all cool our heels for a while and let the FBI do their job and investigate. Instead, we have a rush get someone confirmed (which was going on well before this so the allegations didn't change that aspect at all) on a bare majority before it's too late. This is a lifetime appointment; you'd think we could spend a little time on getting it right.

The allegations aren't the problem here. #MeToo isn't the problem here. The problem is in how the modern Senate operates.
