I can browse the internet and watch movies with no trouble but when I login to a game my graphics go nuts. It started with WoW after the 5.04 patch but now I can't play anyhing else either.

I've downloaded new drivers and directx11

Example

I did notice that in the dxdiag results it dosnt show my Nvidia geforce GT 650m as the display adapter and is instead using the on board graphics.

Some laptops have a dual graphics setup like yours, where the intel chip is supposed to handle the lower power and 2D operatins, and the nvidia chip is supposed to kick in for the gaming. Sometimes the way they are tied together tends to result in corruption to the video driver stack inside windows, which reinstalling the drivers may not necessarily fix. If thats the case, you are generally looking at a full windows reinstallation. It however may also be that the video card hardware itself is starting to fail on the nvidia card. Especially if one of the laptop intake fans is blocked or filled with dust or borken and has been for a while. It may have cooked the nvidia chip. I'd probably reccommend a windows reinstall (maybe buy a solid state hard drive to upgrade to) and see if that fixes the issue. If it doesn't, it's almost certanly the hardware if it is doing this in other games as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try a reinstall of windows since that's the only thing I can do. The laptop is only three months old and I would hope hasn't had a hardware failure already. I already have a SSD for the primary hard drive.

I don't know if I still have my recovery disks. Hate to spend the money to buy a new version of windows just to test a theory but I may not have any options at this point. Waiting to here back from the stores tech support to see what they have to say but I usually get faster and better results from here.

I don't know if it's an option, but you can try disabling the Intel graphics and see if that fixes things. It's what I had to do to my newest desktop for high power graphical performance.

Disabling the intel graphics was one of the first things I tried. When I do the screen goes black and stays that way untill I reboot my laptop. When it reboots it turns the intel graphics back on and I'm back where I started.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
