If you have a PS4 and want to try a Samurai version of Dark Souls created by the Ninja Gaiden team, then go to the PSN store and download the NIOH Early Build Demo now. It will only be available from 04/26 to 05/05, after that it will be permanent removed from the PSN store like P.T. was. You will not be able to download it again if you delete it from your PS4.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I saw a story on this game a while back and thought it sounded cool. DLing now.

Just found out that if you beat the boss before the Alpha ends, you get a free DLC reward download through the PS store that you will receive in-game when the Full game releases. No clue what it is though.

I checked it out. Poked around the beach a bit, looks neat. I am in the very last zones in DS3 though and did not want to mess with my muscle memory too much while I am doing that since the control scheme is non soulsian,.

The demo is hard, there is almost zero room for errors in a fight. You can only strafe while guarding, and if you block a hit it takes too long to get out of the guard animation in order to counter attack. I have yet to fond a boss yet as I keep dying to mid-tier fodder, and there aren't any hints or tutorials on how to use the Ninjitsu/Omnyoji magic systems.

Managed to complete the demo in time. Despite the gripes above and the lack of in area shortcuts, I do recommend getting the game once it comes out.

New Beta Demo coming out next month:

Polygon wrote:

A beta demo for Nioh, Team Ninja’s long-awaited action game, will launch Aug. 23 on PlayStation 4. The limited-time download will be available until Sept. 6, giving the developer’s fans a brief window to try out the reworked gameplay.

Included in the beta demo are a tutorial stage, where players can learn the ropes of the samurai action title, and a never-before-seen level. There will also be various weapons at their disposal, from katanas to hammers.

The upcoming beta demo, first announced at E3 2016, incorporates the feedback of nearly one million people who tested out Nioh’s earlier alpha trial. That demo was playable for a short time this past spring, and fans fell divided on the controls, difficulty and camera placement.

Team Ninja didn’t comment on which specific parts of Nioh it’s tweaked for the trial. Players can look forward to the free download in late August, ahead of the game’s full release, planned for later this year. The PS4 game was first announced for PlayStation 3, with Team Ninja taking over from Koei Tecmo in 2010.

The final Nioh pre-launch demo will only be available this weekend (21-22) and is an expanded version of the demo shown at the Playstation Experience event. It's also the last chance to earn the special items from completing the previous Alpha and Beta versions of the game, plus this demo will unlock a third item.

Developer Team Ninja will offer a third and final demo version of its upcoming samurai action game Nioh for PlayStation 4 owners this weekend. The Nioh “Last Chance Trial” is available to download now and will be playable from Jan. 21-22.

The new trial version of the game is “an expanded version” of what publisher Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja showed off at PlayStation Experience 2016. It’s not only the last chance to try out Nioh before the game launches on PS4 on Feb. 7, it’s also the last opportunity to secure some in-game items in the final version of the game. Completing the trial’s main mission will unlock the Ogress Headgear, while completing the Twilight Mission will grant players the Mark of the Conqueror and Mark of the Strong from last year’s alpha and beta.

The Nioh “Last Chance Trial” is available to pre-load from the PlayStation Store. The demo will be playable between 12 a.m PT Jan 21 and 9 p.m. PT Jan 22.
