The EverQuest team would like to invite you to join us for a very special 19th Anniversary stream! We'll be hosting our celebratory livestream on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11AM PT* over at facebook.com/EverQuestLive.

Join the EverQuest team to reflect on 19 years of memories, talk about this year's anniversary content, and get a fresh start on Coirnav, the new Progression Server! Some of our team members will be creating new characters on Coirnav, and you're more than welcome to get in game and run through some newbie zones with us.

Plus, we'll also be giving away Daybreak Cash and All Access Memberships during the stream!

We look forward to hanging out with you as we celebrate 19 incredible years of EverQuest together!

Well since this doesn't seem to be a hot topic, I'll chime in. Watching Absor with his "do I have to be here face" and the new Frag Doll Cadet who is "producing" EQ is beyond what I can take and still play this game. I'll wait for the crib notes.

LOL.

I've never done a stream for EQ, but have to agree with at least one part of this. EQ's "producer" may as well not even exist. 2-3 times a year communications that don't really say anything. worthless.

They really need to bring their "C" game when it comes to communicating with the players. I'd prefer their "A" game, but I'd take their "C" game, it'd be a step up.

I've worked with guys like Absor. They aren't bad people, they just aren't the "good morning" type of people and don't get excited by much. I'm much the same way myself. He seems like he is burned out due to several reasons and I'm sure probably a lot of it has to do with the rise and fall of how EQ has been handled by SOE/Daybreak over the years that is completely out of his hands that probably drives him up the wall.

As far as the producer goes, I watch the dev tracker daily so I know who is doing what. I don't know much about her but she has been more active as a community rep than I have seen for a while and that doesn't happen with producers. You might see a couple posts a year from a producer but she took on community rep role as well and I think the communication is getting a bit better as far as insight into development goes. I think that is something people were complaining about over the years not knowing the direction the game was going. Previously community reps weren't producers so they really couldn't discuss direction of development, only what they were told about specific subjects. I'm hoping she takes a more active role in management because the EQ team needs it.

Well good to know, honestly all they need is someone who cares.

I got to correct myself. I said Roxxlyy (Roxanne Sabo) was the community rep and producer. She is actually not the producer. The producer for Everquest is in fact Lauren McLemore with Holly Windstalker as the executive producer.

If you have watched the 19th anniversary stream, you will see all three of them along with Jonathan Caraker aka Prathun (Lead Designer) and Joshua Landman (Programmer).

Keep in mind that the current dev team is all post-2002 by their own admission.

This means for some time a big part of their job has been tinkering on progression through multiple expacs of content they have no personal stake in. Add to that, a few of them basically started with Prophecy of Ro so they get to repeatedly hear about their early work killing the progression game (many progression players have learned that GoD and OoW are actually fun to replay now).

So they are dealing with all sorts of abandoned design approaches in the original to LDoN game, knowing that there best work is TSS and later (with the odd hiccup) and probably not feeling all that supported by their corporate overlords (small dev team).

/salute the EQ dev team for sticking with it. Anyone can always find some other job to do. Whether you like Live server or some form of progression, in many ways the game is the best it has ever been. That's a credit to this dev team, whether they come across surly on livestreams or not.

Sometimes I feel sorry for game developers, other times not so much. Sometimes it all seems like a divorced couple publicly fighting over the custody of the children - but ironically lthe children are all adults now - but the parents being so accustomed to bickering that they just can't stop.
