I'll pass on a comment that was said to me:

Thank you for your time and if you happen to go onto Cazic Thule server, I strongly suggest you take a peek into my Guild Hall (Dawns Shadow) at Elm Colonial Farms, 200 Brimming Way,
NO kidding when I tell you I have collected about 700 placeable items that are all Weapons, Shields, Books, and Range Items.

As a proof of concept, I did something you're never supposed to do. I edited the real estate data file directly. Sometimes, it's a real pain to try to get items to stack properly. It may look good from one angle, but seams don't align when you turn the camera 90 degrees.

So, although it's probably a bad idea to mess game data, I was curious to see if I could force objects to align exactly as I placed them. It worked. I took eight Ancient Stone Columns and placed them at the perimeter, more or less in the cardinal and ordinal directions of the plot. I saved the yard and then looked for the new file on my computer. Yards are on a 150 x 150 (x 150?) grid, with numbering going from -75 to 75. Editing the file, I set all the Z numbers for these items to the same height. Then I changed the X and Y numbers so that they were exactly -75, 0, or 75. After I saved the file, I reloaded it into the plot (no logging out necessary) and voilà, I had 8 perfectly aligned columns.

I actually made a typo on my first pass. I accidentally deleted one of the quotation marks around my numbers. As a result, the saved plot no longer appeared in the Real Estate window. So, apparently, EQ has some sort of internal check to make sure that the files aren't broken.

One odd finding is that when I saved the yard again, my items shifted ever so slightly, by a few millionths. This is imperceptible to me, but in the actual file, instead of seeing 75.000000, I was seeing things like 74.999586. Perhaps, EQ allows the items to "settle"? Or perhaps, being so close the edge of the plot, perhaps EQ pushes it in slightly? You'll notice that the outlines of the plots are not perfectly square.

This is not something I'd use on a regular basis. But I may rely it when I bring back my "Flyswatter" yard. I had set up a bunch of walls high in the air, roughly in the flight path of spring-launched travelers heading to their plots in the zone. From my architect's vantage point far below on the ground, it's rather difficult to maneuver the walls into place so that they are all on the same plane in all three dimensions. So, I may tweak my numbers to make sure that the walls are properly aligned. Even from a distance I can tell that it's not quite right.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter that much for the purposes of this particular structure as the developers seem to have planned for such naughtiness. When using the spring to launch you to your plot, you are apparently intangible while in the air. So, you pass right through my walls as opposed to going splat. I still like it as a purely visual practical joke, though.

Real estate files are in the userdata folder and named RE_Layout_foo.xml.

Also, since this is meant to be a gallery, here's a screenshot. These are three plots of mine on Vox in the Elm Colonial Farms neighborhood. I let escrow expire, so I had to shuffle them around a little since I captured this image, but they are at least back up at the moment. The giant smokestack was not a keeper.

Hi there! I was directed to this thread by Snailish from the Daybreak Veteran's Lounge forum. I thought I would share my two greatest housing creations!

The first is an entire housing zone filled with neat plots from myself and other friends. Check out the post at: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq/index.php?threads/firiona-vie-spruce-bridge-hollows.218866/

The second is an interactive quest I build inside of a guild hall, you can see it here at: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq/index.php?threads/the-legend-of-the-fear-house.218867/

If you like them or want to participate in the quest, comment or message me on the Daybreak forums. Enjoy! =^_^=

If housing is your thing, EQ Resource has a lot of threads in their section dedicated to this topic.

Shame the official boards nuked that part of their site.

Thanks Snailish for directing me to this forum, I see alot of my housing people here =) .

I have spent a great deal of time and sanity dealing with my eviction crates since returning to the game so I am going to be extremely lazy and just link past EQ housing posts.

Be aware, all my lots/houses are now located on The Rathe server, Temple Guardianz Village, Brimming area. There are ten open houses, one open guild hall so expect to spend a bit of time and look at everything !!! ~I still get butt hurt over people not noticing the threaded needle on the doll in Santug's workshop.~

Some houses are locked as there is little to nothing on the inside, to make this discernment I'm going to place summoned swords to form an X by the lot marker or noticeable place on the lot . Not all houses have a door to click on, find a exposed area of the original house to right click then hit enter (make sure you are standing within lot boundary) . If you can not find the clickable exit make a hot key /leaverealestate. Ohh Snap guild hall is open, MoM is not. A couple places have special features or entrances gained from going up ramps located in the back.

I'll post when I finish updating all the old houses from the 300 to 500 limit...the train station will expand =) no time soon tho.

For those interested, I have some properties finished, to the point I will display them, that might be fun for any trick-or-treaters out there.

All are on Drinal, Colonial Island.

Overall note: All are designed to be viewed seeing all particles and effects. Those clouds and stuff are important, no matter what anyone tells ya.
Also have pet and NPC names off.

Storming Frankengnome's Castle
101 Market Heights
owner: Frankengnome
Unfortunately, large races cannot get to every room inside as the architect was a wee person. So shrink em if you can.
If I have any player characters up and standing/spinning around, please inspect them. Their descriptions may help move further and hopefully add to the overall experience.
In case no characters are up to assist you, the entry to the castle is the exposed part of the bixie hive inside the well.
Once you get in, you'll have to find which wall is climbable.(I've disabled the trampoline so that pets inside cannot be tampered with. Those rascals can be so hard to track down.)
You will need to use the command /leaverealestate to exit the house.

The Lair
101 Market Street
owner: Vaddiszno
There are some skellie arms that are around to help guide/point you to the entrance of the house.

Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun
102 Market Heights
owner: Levente
No interior atm

The Funeral Chapel
102 Park Circle
owner: Levente
Use exposed part of bixie hive in doorway to enter.
You will need to wriggle a bit to get through the waterfall curtain before the main room. Just primarily face the room when wriggling. Works for an assortment of characters I have tried, so hopefully it won't hold anyone back.
Use /leaverealestate to exit.

graveyard adjoining the above chapel
101 Park Circle
owner: Ravasz

Dead Man's Party
103 Park Circle
owner: Halloween
Inspect the Doorman, if he is up.

That's all I got that one might argue is more or less Halloween themed. Actually, tis almost all I have that is in a state of completion.
Happy Trick-or-Treating!

And for those that are already into the next big holiday:

Who Saves Santugg?!
(think I'll stick w/ this new name)
108 Park Circle
owner: Meisterburger

Entry via the exposed part of bixie hive in doorway.
Use /leaverealestate to exit.

I hope you enjoy your visits

I've managed to get another yard done:

The Cavern Cinema
105 Park Circle
Same neighborhood and server as the properties I've listed a couple posts above this one.

The exterior is done but it's not open for business yet. No date set for the grand opening.

Also, I moved The Lair to 104 Park Circle.

Anyone that hasn't yet or just wants to visit again, you are all welcome to come trick-or-treating to my properties that are listed a couple posts before this one.

I wish the rows of homes could be where we have to walk through in the POK to get to banks and tradeskills and all. That would be fun.

Seems Day Break has ignored housing. No give-away house on expansions and no promotions of the Neighborhoods. These Neighborhoods are a game in-itself and fun to explore on ALL servers.
Santa’s Work Shop Address: 107 Betwixt Ave, Cedar Country Meadows, Zek. A lot of detail. Click on the candy bowls for FREE stackable stat candy. No PVP until level 5 so make a level one toon on Zek and explore the Cedar Country Meadow Neighborhood. More than 30 houses to explore. Tatankaseventh was kind to post some of the house (all of them at the time) but I no longer keep a Flickr account so the pictures are not there. It is best to visit them in person anyway…Have a safe and joyous Christmas and remember if you are on Zek, buy from Armourcarr and remember it is not the thought that counts but how much plat you spend :D

Happy Halloween!

Visitors are welcome at Zombo's Zany Manor!
Located on Drinal, Colonial Island, 106 Park Circle, owned by Zombo.

I recommend disabling NPC names, so pet names will be hidden.
Also be able to see particles and effects.
To exit, use EQ button-Real Estate-Leave Real Estate, the command /leaverealestate, or gate out in some fashion.

This house was around a year ago( I think I forgot to announce it on this site) but has a few improvements, so there are new things to see for everyone.

Unfortunately, the Candy Bowl in front of the house is locked from visitors as interactions are turned off. The greedy hand in it would likely slap yours away anyhow.
I didn't want to pets to have the possibility to roam from their assigned positions.
