The Arena of Maethad  

'Now that the Orcs know where we are, this place may be too dangerous for us. But we have nowhere else to go. We have considered moving east, away from the Orc-camps, but it seems there is another terrible threat in that region. A place called Maethad, sometimes known as the Arena.

'This valley is guarded by old fortifications, and it is inhabited by trolls...and worse, by the masters of troll-kind called Gertheryg. It is hard to know how dangerous they are, though, for some trolls, evil though they all may be, are reclusive, and others are not as strong as their size might suggest. Yet we cannot send dwarves to challenge them, because we must remain on guard against another orc-attack.

'I would ask you to assemble a party of your friends and find the Maethad. If you are successful, perhaps we may consider the east as an option for flight if the whole Orc-army descends upon us. There are Gorthorog Felwardens that guard the entrance to Maethad. If you can defeat one of these foes we will be able to proceed.'
