Make sure you clear the immediate area of all Cave-claws!
As soon as you talk to Loki new cave-claws start attacking and soon an Elite comes along. Even worse, Loki likes to run off and attack any nearby cave-claw even if it is not in danger of attacking, so it is easy to fail this quest due to him dying as result of his own stupidity.
